Welcome to 7th Grade Science!

Dear 7th Grade Students and Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year at Bromley East Charter School!! My name is Mr. Tate, and I will be your 7th grade science teacher this year. In addition, I will be co-teaching the S.T.E.M. elective course with Mr. Albrecht. This year marks my 8th year of teaching middle school science. I began teaching for 3 years at a school in the Brighton 27J School District prior to beginning my career here at BECS, and I am now in my 5th year teaching here. Consequently, I am extremely excited to bring my expertise in the field of teaching science to you this upcoming school year!

In describing my own personal education, I graduated from the Metropolitan State College of Denver in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a minor in Chemistry, and a professional teaching license in secondary science. Additionally, in May 2006, I graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver with a Master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in secondary science.

In my free time, I enjoy writing young-adult novels (Cold Secrets: A SoNaR Adventure), reading, biking, playing the drums, and spending time with my family. Additionally, I keep quite busy maintaining our new house and trying to keep up with our two wonderful sons, Corbyn Ray and Aaden Christopher.

For every science class I teach, I believe in the inclusion of cooperative group work, hands-on activities, literacy components, and mathematical components whenever possible. I believe that if you try your best each and every day, you will get more out of this science class than you may have thought possible. I am excited to work with you throughout the school year, and I hope you are equally as excited to learn about the natural world around you.

Overall, I am very excited about the opportunities that this upcoming school year has to provide to everyone associated with Bromley East Charter School. I hope that you will enter my class ready to think critically, to problem solve, to work cooperatively with fellow students, and above all, to explore and understand the natural world around you!!!

If you have any questions or concerns, you may always contact me via phone at 720.685.3297 x219 or by email at atate@bromleyeastcs.org.

Sincerely,

Aaron C. Tate, M.A.
