One of the major requirements for each 7th grade student is to complete a science fair of his/her choosing.
Below, you will find important information regarding this annual project.
1.) You may choose a project to test and/or research in any one of the following sciences:
Botany (Plants)
Earth/Space Science
Engineering (Problem Solving/Design)
Environmental Science (Environment)
Health and Behavioral Science
Math and Computer Science
Microbiology (Single-celled Organisms)
Physical Science (Physics/Chemistry)
Zoology (Animals)
2.) You may either choose to work alone OR in pairs—however, you may NOT have groups more than 2!!
(*If your pair goes to the regional fair, EACH person must pay his/her portion of the $25.00 entry fee!)
3.) The following are due dates for various stages of the project—no exceptions (if you plan to be eligible to receive honor’s credit for this project)!
a. Have your group chosen: DUE DATE PASSED
b. Have your project selected and titled: DUE DATE PASSED
c. Have your testable question/purpose written: DUE DATE PASSED
d. Have all sections of your “Science Fair Write-up Guide” initialed by Mr. Tate: DUE DATE PASSED
e. Have your data/observations collected and complete: DUE DATE PASSED
f. Have both your abstract and your conclusion written: DUE DATE PASSED
g. Be ready to present your project to the class: DUE DATE PASSED
4.) Note: Projects may not be approved in the event of any of the following circumstances:
a. The project is deemed unsafe—for example, students are not allowed to culture microorganisms (such as mold or bacteria) at home.
b. The necessary materials may be too difficult to obtain.
c. Another group has already been approved for the same project.
